NEW EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT CENTER IN CHIRIQUI GRANDE ENHANCENS CIVIL PROTECTION IN THE REGION

In a dedicated effort to strengthen the resilience and safety of the communities in Chiriqui Grande, Petroterminal de Panama, S.A. (PTP) has made a significant donation to the National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC). On October 29, PTP delivered two fully equipped container modules to serve as new SINAPROC´s new offices in this strategic region. With an investment of B/.19,659.30, this donation will directly impact over 15,210 residents of the municipalities of Chiriqui Grande, Punta Peña, Punta Robalo, Rambala, Bajo Cedro, Miramar and La Comarca.

Each 20-foot modular container has been customized and outfitted according to strict standards of quality and confort, including 12,000 BTU air conditioners, sanitary facilities, sinks, and anti-corrosive paint to ensure durability in challenging weather conditions. Additionally, PTP arranged the electrical, plumbing and PVC finishes, ensuring that the new offices provided the necessary infrastructure to support SINAPROC’s emergency response coordination efforts.

PTP’s contribution aligns with its social commitment to the welfare of neighboring communities and supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 11: “Sustainable Cities and Communities”. This goal promotes the development of safe, resilient and inclusive cities, and emphasizes the importance of reducing disaster risks for vulnerable populations. With the provision of these offices, PTP strengthens SINAPROC’s infrastructure in a sensitive area, enhancing its response capacity and preventive action capabilities.

SINAPROC’s previous facilities in Chiriqui Grande had deteriorated condition that limited operational effectiveness. Thanks to Petroterminal de Panama´s intervention, the institution now has a renovated, adequate space that will improve the efficiency and quality of its services to the community. This initiative reaffirms PTP’s commitment to sustainability and safety, contributing to the preparedness and well-being of communities within its area of influence.
